D70s: Camera Study

Ok, so I've read the D70s instruction manual thoroughly, as much as one can for the first time. So what that means is, I'm definitely going to be referring back to it constantly (what was that mode/option again?). Better yet, I'll just keep the darn thing in my camera bag, so that my "bible" is always with me. So with the camera in hand, I just wandered aimlessly through my friend's garden to see what interesting pics I could take, meanwhile fiddling with all the features and functions my camera has. Here is a sample taken at mid-day sun. Gotta love the Nikon's CCD electronic shutter. Up to 1/8000th of a second baby.

My first dSLR: Nikon D70s

So I finally got my first dSLR, a discontinued Nikon D70s. It's been a long time waiting; I've shot a bunch of photos with a dozen point-n-shoots and professional SLR's, but here's my chance with a digital type "prosumer" camera. Right now there's a whole bunch for sale on eBay or Amazon, just in case any of you are interested in purchasing one. Prices range from $300-$500, so it's not that bad, considering a few years ago this baby new would have burned a whopping $1,000 in your wallet/purse (for camera body only and add an additional $350 for the f3.5, 18-70mm lens kit) . Now I just have to do a little research for my dedicated strobe unit, so that I can start experimenting with off-camera/off-axis lighting.

Can't wait to see what this thing can do. More later.
